Country Singer Rory Feek Marries Daughter's Teacher 8 Years After Death of Wife Joey

Rory Feek is saying "I do" to a new chapter.

Eight years after his wife and musical partner Joey Feek died following a battle with cervical cancer, the "One Angel" singer shared that he has remarried his 10-year-old daughter Indiana's teacher and their family friend, Rebecca.

The couple married on July 14 under a "timber-frame pavilion here in Greycliff, Montana," Rory recounted on his blog about the special day. And as the 59-year-old explained, while he and Rebecca have been together for some time, his marriage is all thanks to his daughter.

"We knew marriage was a possibility," Rory recounted, "it wasn't something that either of us felt like we could seriously talk about. Mostly because up until that time Indiana only saw Rebecca as 'Miss Rebecca her schoolteacher and our friend."

But luckily for the couple, Indiana approached Rebecca with an idea in "late March" when the two of them were spending time together on Rory's farm.

"They came back in the kitchen," the musician—who was married to Joey for 14 years before her death at age 40—recalled, "and Rebecca said, 'Rory, Indiana just asked me something that I think you need to hear.'"

"I asked Indy, and she told me that she said, 'Ms. Rebecca, I think you should marry Papa,'" he continued. "Of course, I was happy, but caught off guard and told her that that was something we'd all have to start praying about."

But Indy's thoughts on the matter went beyond just that, as she told Rory and Rebecca, "my Mama's been gone a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother."

Rory remembers wiping away tears and added that he and Rebecca began wedding planning soon after.

During their nuptials the country singer surprised Rebecca with a special song titled, "I Do," which he also shared a video for featuring many heartfelt moments from the ceremony.

But there was one moment during the celebration that both Rory and Rebecca felt encapsulated their "favorite moment."

"When Indiana was given the gift of having a Mama in her life again," Rory wrote. "And Rebecca was given the gift of being a mother."
